 | Latest Philosophy My work recently has been created using found objects.
Recycling and finding new uses for discarded objects means that my work is created using whatever I can find. I really do like the creativity that's sparked by not knowing what surface is coming next, as well as finding new methods or techniques to work with. I get an even bigger kick out of reacting to the found object i.e painting with transparent glazes on glass so that I'm still being true to the material and carving a tree in wood so that the content reflects the support. I really feel like this recycling buzz is working for me. And though much of my time has been spent on commissions lately as well as my freelance work as a 3D artist, I'm pushing myself to make 'art'.
Watch this space - I should be producing heaps of work in the very near future! |
 | Nymph Nymph is created using transulcent Acrylic Glazes to take advantage of the glass surface. I rescued the beautiful green-glass plate from a hard rubbish life.
Feel free to check out the detail. |
 | Dryad Dryad is my first ever Wood Relief Carving. It can be found in the 3D section (weird?) but I struggled to find a category - not surprising considering it's a completely new medium for me.
I salvaged what I believe is an old cheese platter and turned it into something new. I liked the idea of carving a tree into wood - it seemed so cyclical.

 | 2010 John Leslie Art Prize I'm very fortunate to have been shortlisted as one of the 31 finalists for this year's 2010 John Leslie Art Prize.

 | The secret New airbrushed painting added to the Traditional Gallery. |
 | Libertine New digital painting added to the gallery. Titled Libertine it's almost ironic that I've had so little time for personal work. |
